2nd Semester...
Hi friends, Second semester has started, so i wish you all the best...
Some students said Second semester is difficult than the first one and if you see the subjects of 2nd semester, you may or may not think like that(express your thinking through comments).
Second Semester syllabus
1) System Programming :
It includes "UNIX commands and Shell scripting". UNIX commands are very simple. As like command prompt commands in Windows, there are some commands used in UNIX to perform some tasks.
But Shell scripting is some what difficult. For programmers it is interesting topic, because it includes programs that will be executed in UNIX platform and using this, you can create a "Shell" for UNIX (but have to work hard).
2) Advanced Programming :
It includes advanced concepts of JAVA. For java people it will be very easy.
3) Computer Organization & Architecture :
It includes topics like :- Computer architecture - CPU, Memory, I/O, CPU Scheduling, etc...
It will be very difficult if you miss the first lectures.
4) Data Structure & Algorithms :
Algorithms are very very easy if you think in manner of solving a problem. It also includes topic Data Structure :- Stack, Queue, Linked List, Tree, Graphs, etc...
You should know the basic concept about data structure, once you got - Data structures will be like A B C D's...
All the best for the semester. ☺

Get ready for Open Book Examination…
In fact open book exams are not easy.
Open book exams teach you how to find information when you need it that is the main goal of BITS Pilani conducting open book examination.
Open book exams are more difficult than traditional closed book exams because the questions illicit higher order thinking and the answer to the question will not appear in a single paragraph in your text--or even on a single page.
WASE Comprehensive Exam (Open Book) consists of 60% weightage with 3 hours duration. As comprehensive exam weightage is more than closed book keep few things in mind before preparing for the exam.
Open Book exams require you to
- learn for understanding rather than just remembering
- understand how to find information
- make good notes and organize materials for fast reference
- apply the information in your sources to the questions
- the materials you can take into the exam room : For WASE you can take only the prescribed text books along with hand written notes
- how much time you have : Exam would of 3 hours
- the topic areas the exam will cover : Just go through the handouts before preparing notes
- How long answers should be: Based on the marks question should be answered.

Server... Down.. Down...
Last time when we were giving Mid semester exams, servers were down ( they were running like hell.... ).
We entered into the class and sat in our seats according to good studying friends wise :P, once started the exams, we were getting trouble for login into the server to start the exam, after that to submitting the exam.
The duration or schedule for an exam is of 1 hour, but it took 3 hours to complete one exam including login, answering and submitting.
Wipro server were working like hell...
It was happened twice for this exams. The second time, when they were conducted the exams again, on that day - we faced server problem.
Two exams had to finish on that day, but finished only one exam and other exams are postponed to this weekend. i.e. this Saturday (28th April, 2012)
Don't know, what will be happened on that day...

Afternoon i went there and enjoyed a lot with friends by playing different games.
Most of the wipro employees didn't know about the fest because they were very busy with their work.
(comeon guys... only work is not a life... njoy when you get a chance... or create some chances to get njoymnt... :D)
Some of my friends got prizes, (they won in some games)... after seeing those prizes i thought to play the games...n i participated.... bt didn't get any prize... :(

WonderLa - A Must Visit Place near Bangalore
Hey Hi guys,
Recently I have been to Wonder La, An amusement Park near Bangalore.
How To Reach there ?
→ Take a Bus which goes to KR Market.
→ From here you can take Bus : 226 or 228
Instructions:
→ Nylon clothes are preferable.
Experience:
Rides here are awesome. You must try each and every ride. Don't fear for height etc. You'll feel better after the ride. Because here the Rides are more fun than water rides, try Rides first. Water rides are also good.
I don't want to give you more details about the rides because you'll have more when you go with empty mind.
you can find more details about Wonder La at their official website.
The Best Ride (in my View):
All rides are best, for me there is a ride called "gravity loose". (fatke haath me aajati he!!)

MS - Mid Semester Exam
Mid Semester Exam was held on 25th March, 2012 for semester 1.
This is online exam i.e. MCQ's (Multiple Choice Questions) of 30 marks for each subject.
i.e.
All questions are of multiple choice
- Four options
- Only one correct answer
Online examinations would be held for each subject separately. Duration would be 1 hour each and it contains 30 questions i.e. 1 mark for each question.
There is no negative marking in the ON-LINE assessment
But it was dam failed. Because of server problem.
I wondered Wipro like IT MNC company facing server problem for Online assessment of 10,000 peoples at a time. :O
On 25th March, all students were ready to experience the first exam in their 4 years MS course and so enthusiastic to give the exam (really...!! all will doubt :P ). but when they entered into the class room, occupied the seats and trying to login, they were facing a problem to login because of server problem. Server was not responding.
After waiting of 30 to 45 minutes, some people were succeeded to login and started the exam. once they finished all the questions, again they faced the problem for submitting the exam. It took 30 to 45 min to submit the exam.
Because of this, the entire exam schedule was failed and exams for some slots were canceled.
The day was ended with happy faces (those who doesn't want to give the exam) and with sad faces (those who want to give and finish the exam tension).
Exams was re-scheduled again on 31st March, 2012 and the same thing was happened again...
i.e. "Server problem and cancellation of the exams"

Real Life Lab (RLL)
The Real Life Lab (RLL) provides you an opportunity to assimilate the
understanding of TRP courses and carry out a real life case study
before you are deputed to projects.
Procedure of RLL:
External professors will come and they will divide your class into group of two-two members and give you "Requirements Specification or Case study of a project".
Your group members have to divide the task and work on it.
Tasks includes:
After Coding phase, you have to give a presentation on what you have done in the project in front of the entire class... (OMG...!!!)
Once coding phase is done,, you have to Test the application. NOT your project, you have to test the opposite team project. (Professor will decide the teams)
You have note done bugs in that application (i.e. Project) in BugTracking sheet and fix the bugs i.e. maintaining the project.
Opposite team will do same for your project. i.e they will test your project and find some bugs and fix the bugs.
Once this phase is done, again you have to give presentation on Maintenance phase. i.e. What you have done in this phase and what are the bugs that you have fixed, etc...

Analysis the Requirements - RLL
"Analyzing requirements: determining whether the stated requirements are clear, complete, consistent and unambiguous, and resolving any apparent conflicts."
"Requirements analysis is critical to the success of a systems or software project. The Requirements should be documented, actionable, measurable, testable, traceable, related to identified business needs or opportunities, and defined to a level of detail sufficient for system design."
In this task, you have to analysis the requirements to find or determine whether the requirements are clear and feasible and can be implemented properly.
You have to understand the requirements properly, then only you can implement it.
It's better to do some rough work to analyses the requirements like preparing Flow Chat, ERD(Entity Relationship Diagram), etc...
Once you are clear with the requirements, now you can go further for next task

Wipro is providing Rs. 1,250/- per semester as Books allowances, but the Books that we have to buy comes for Rs. 2000/- to 3,000/- i.e. all books for a semester.
So, we have to think twice before buying books,
(we are not engineers who are getting 20,000 salary per month, so have to think twice n thrice before spending money... :P)
After thinking thrice, i got an idea to buy books from a shop who can take back the books after completion of a semester and give me some % of original price back.
So, i searched in Hyderabad and got a location called Koti, where you will find all the books shops.
They are offering % Cash Back after submission of the books (in proper condition).
I got an offer as they are giving 50% cash back of the original price when i give the books back.
So, i brought my MS Semester-1 books from there.
